OWRC is seeking dedicated, passionate volunteers to help rescue and rehabilitate the injured and orphaned wildlife in Maryland. We ask that you donate your time at least 4.5 hours per week, be at least 18 years old, and be willing to sign a liability waiver form. There is a ton of flexibility regarding available shifts: we have people on site 24/7 during the Spring and Summer seasons in order to care for the babies that need frequent feedings, and from 8am-4pm during Fall and Winter, so there is always a need.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Maintaining the animals’ proper diets
• Cleaning cages
• Cleaning the facility
• Administering medication
• Assisting in procedures
We ask, but it is not required, that you get your pre-exposure Rabies Vector Species shots (RVS) so that you will be able to handle the RVS animals that come in (bats, raccoons, foxes, and skunks). Please be advised that volunteering is physically demanding, typically requiring long periods of time spent on your feet in addition to potential lifting and other strenuous activity.
